by March 17th 2012:
1) 2 or 3 jpegs exemplifying your work.
note: these don't have to be the actual pieces you wish to exhibit, but they must exemplify the work that you wish to exhibit in terms of style and media.
2) Brief description of the work you propose to exhibit. Must include:
• concept
• number of pieces
• dimensions
• media
• projected price(s) (just an approx.)
3) A 90 word artist bio in the third person. This must include your specific connection to the animation industry. i.e. studios where you've previously worked or where you currently work, title, and on what project(s) you've worked or currently work on, as well as a brief exhibition history (if any).
You must include the city and state you currently live in.
SORRY, we can't accept:
• Submissions later than March 17th 2012.
• Submissions that do not include all of the application specs outlined above.
• Submitted jpg examples that differ from your exhibition proposal. NOTE: The jury likes to see your proficiency with the materials/concept in question. This discrepancy accounts for about 50% of our rejections.
Too Art for TV is a Juried Show.
The submissions are scored by jury. The 40 artists with the highest scores are accepted into the show.

QUALIFICATIONS/GUIDELINES:
• Too Art's theme: Featuring the personal, fine art works of animation industry artists.
We like work that is exuberant and highly impactful. Our show endeavours to bridge the fine art and applied art gap.
We are not looking to exhibit commercial work, i.e. no comics, illustrated book pages, series pitches, storyboard panels, character designs, etc... We'd prefer you take the skills you'd use to create such things, and use them to make something original.
• Animation Industry artists only -- past or present experience.
• For those who live outside of New York: we only allow up to 20% of non New Yorkers into Too Art. We do this to keep a local community vibe to the show, but we value the inclusion of non New Yorkers and encourage them to apply as well.
• There is no size or number limit for submissions. Be ambitious... you will not be rejected for proposing larger works than we can accommodate. We'll let you know if space is limited and may ask you to adjust if that is the case.
• All formats are welcome including paintings, video/animation installation, sculpture, toys, mixed media, silkscreen, etc. with one exception... (below)
• Sorry, no digitally printed artwork is accepted for this exhibition. If you would like to exhibit a digital print, you'll have to explain why a digitally printed medium is necessary conceptually. NOTE: Mixed media that incorporates digital printouts, as well as digital photography, are okay.
• To those submitting animation, film, and/or video art, we are changing our previous approach. For this type of work to be considered for Too Art, it should be part of an installation that you propose, fund, and install yourself. Too Art no longer wishes to have animation, film, and/or video art be presented in a film festival style with projector and looping visuals. This change promotes a better context for each individual video artist.
EXHIBITION DETAILS:
• Our venue and opening date is tba until March 2012.
• All artwork exhibited is for sale.
• Gallery takes a 50% commission.
• Artwork delivered to the gallery will be "ready to hang" including frames, hooks, wire, etc.
• Exhibitors will help in the hanging of their own artwork.
• If artwork brought to the gallery is different from the proposal, then we reserve the right not to hang it.
• Artists who are not in the NY area are financially responsible for getting their artwork to and from the gallery/exhibition space.
• The gallery has final say in regards to the price of the artwork. In most cases, the artist's projected price is accepted.
• The gallery will take 30 days after the closing date to compensate artists if their work is sold.
• Your bio and an example of your work will be used on our website to promote the show.
• Artists will sign an exhibition agreement upon acceptance.
Special note from the curator...
If you were not selected last year, we encourage you to ask for feedback and try again. Typically submissions are rejected due to a misunderstanding of our theme.
